What guests say

  • Reviewers return again and again to the central position: the old town and harbour sit within a short walk, which keeps the hotel close to Chania's dining and evening streets.
  • The rooftop pool and its wide views are named as a highlight by many guests, a place to settle with the old-city rooftops spread below.
  • Staff draw warm, repeated praise — described as helpful and generous, with reviewers noting they went out of their way to sort requests.
  • Breakfast earns strong marks from most guests, frequently called good or amazing, with a broad enough spread to satisfy different diets.

The recurring gripe: Limited on-site parking; only around nine spaces per guest reports.

The story

The building sits directly against the Venetian walls of Chania's old city, one block from the historic San Salvador Bastion that gives the hotel its name. Opened in 2020, it holds just 23 rooms, and the hotel's own description leans on a modern, minimalistic design against that centuries-old stone. Deluxe Rooms sit at the entry level; the range climbs through a Deluxe Suite with private pool and an Executive Suite with sea view.

Every room comes with air-conditioning, a balcony framing either city or sea, a private bathroom, minibar and flat-screen TV. On the roof, a fresh-water swimming pool opens from May to October, with a sun terrace and a separate rooftop bar; the hotel's site notes the views are the point. The single restaurant runs Greek, Mediterranean and European dishes from breakfast through cocktail hour, with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options.

Chania International Airport is roughly 13 km (8 mi) away, Nea Chora Beach about 400 m (1,300 ft) off, and the old town and harbour some 790 m (2,600 ft) — the hotel counts this as about a ten-minute walk. Kladissos Beach lies 1.4 km (0.9 mi) along the shore. A restrained, central base for travellers who want the old city on foot.
