The story

The resort is built into a dramatic cliff face, its rooms and pools arranged across the slope so the sea stays in view from the terraces. According to the hotel, the position is chosen for sweeping water views, and the layout spreads guests across enough levels that the grounds rarely feel busy. Every room carries a furnished balcony or terrace with either land or sea views, air conditioning, a satellite TV, kettle and refrigerator; upgrades add private or shared pools.

Water is the recurring theme: indoor, outdoor, rooftop and infinity pools, two sweet-water pools and three pool bars, plus a heated indoor pool the hotel lists as adults-only for an extra charge. The spa runs to sauna, steam room, hammam, ice fountain and hydrotherapy pools, with a yoga and pilates shala alongside. Dining spans four kitchens: the sea-view Veranda with show cooking, the pan-Asian and Latin American Umi, a traditional Minoan taverna, and the Mediterranean Oceano. Stay three nights and one à la carte meal comes free.

Mononaftis Beach is the closest stretch of sand, cited at 80 m (260 ft), with the hotel's own site giving 150 m; Agia Pelagia's centre lies about 1 km (3,300 ft) away. Heraklion International Airport is 22 km (13.7 mi) west of the city, roughly 24 km (15 mi) from the resort. A composed adults-only base for slow days by the water.
