The story
The architecture leads here. ADĀMA is a set of villas above Matala carrying the Signature Collection stamp of Zálo Spaces, and reviewers single out the design of the buildings as the thing that sets the place apart. Rooms range from apartment to suite layouts, several with their own heated pools or jacuzzis, and every one has a balcony, a private bathroom and air-conditioning.
Inside, rooms lean towards self-sufficiency: a coffee machine, kettle and refrigerator in each, plus free WiFi and views that run from garden to mountain depending on the villa. The shared outdoor pool is heated, with a shallow end and a plunge section, alongside a hot tub and a sun terrace. ADĀMA Restaurant serves breakfast with Greek, Mediterranean and local dishes, and offers vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Matala beach is about 400 m (1,300 ft) away, and the village centre roughly 500 m (1,650 ft), though the hotel's own site puts the beach nearer 600 m. Phaistos lies 11 km (6.8 mi) off, the Museum of Cretan Ethnology 14 km (8.7 mi), and Heraklion airport 64 km (40 mi), with a shuttle available. A composed base for couples who want quiet and design in equal measure.
