What guests say

  • Guests repeatedly single out the quiet beachfront setting — close to the sand yet a short walk into Plakias town for dinner and shops.
  • Reviewers highlight the rooms as spacious and stylishly decorated, with the saltwater pool consistently named a standout feature.
  • Breakfast draws frequent praise, described as generous and delicious by many guests.
  • Several visitors mention the complimentary wine and fruit waiting on arrival as a warm, unexpected welcome.
  • Staff come across as friendly and helpful without hovering, which several guests say gives the place a private, low-key feel.

The recurring gripe: The sliding barn-style bathroom door offers little privacy, particularly in shared or suite rooms.

The story

The building leans on traditional Cretan construction and natural materials, a design the hotel describes as atmospheric beach-culture: organic textures, crafted objects, restrained rooms that let the coast do the talking. Named after Nereus, the ancient sea deity and father of the Nereids, it opened in May 2024 with just twelve rooms — small enough to feel like a private house rather than a hotel.

Rooms divide into four types: Double Rooms with pool or mountain views, a Junior Suite with pool view, and a King Suite with sea view. Each has air-conditioning, a private bathroom, minibar, flat-screen TV and free WiFi. A lounge, indoor play area and bicycle rental round out the facilities, and the outdoor saltwater infinity pool sits on a sun terrace facing the water. A basic gym and locker rooms are also on site.

The location is the strongest card. The nearest beach lies 46 m (150 ft) away, Plakias Beach 380 m (1,250 ft), and the town centre is 1 km — roughly an eight-minute walk. Damnoni Beach is 2.1 km (1.3 mi) further along, with Chania International Airport 82 km (51 mi) away. Free private parking is on site, and an airport shuttle can be arranged for a fee.
