The story
The building presents itself as a compact town hotel, and its clearest architectural gesture is vertical: a seasonal outdoor pool set on the roof, edged by a pool bar and a sun terrace that draw the eye out over Heraklio. It is the space the whole property organises around, lifting the swimming and drinking well above street level.
Rooms are soundproofed and come with air-conditioning, private bathrooms, minibars and balconies, each looking out to either the sea or the city. Down at ground level, Rocca Bistro runs as an all-day Mediterranean restaurant and bar — breakfast through brunch, lunch, dinner, high tea and cocktail hour, with vegetarian and vegan options. A fitness centre and private check-in round out the practical side.
Position is the quiet advantage. The airport sits 4 km (2.5 mi) away and the centre of Heraklio Town just 1.4 km (0.9 mi), with Amoudara Beach 600 m (0.6 mi) off and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum 1.8 km (1.1 mi) distant; the Palace of Knossos lies 7.1 km (4.4 mi) inland. A solid base for exploring the town on foot.
